About Ability Chem-Dry
Operated by David and Marcia Blaine.
David graduated from Parkrose High in 1974 and received a degree from Mt Hood Community College in Civil Engineering in 1976. After being in the land and construction surveying business as a technician for several years, the recession at that time found David with the opportunity to join a co-worker that was starting a Chem-Dry business in 1982. After a short time his partner moved out of the area and David bought his first Chem-Dry franchise. Marcia joined the U.S. Army after graduating and served as a nurse over seas. She is still nursing and helping veterans at the Portland Veterans Medical Center.
Chem-Dry at that time was not well know, but quickly started growing it's market share because of the fast drying benefits and the crystal clear nature of the "carbonated carpet solution". People were unhappy with "steam cleaning" as it took three to four days to dry and it's other problems overwetting was causing. Eventually, Chem-Dry became the largest carpet cleaning company in the U.S. and even the world. Today, it is estimated that Chem-Dry cleans over a billion square feet of carpeting every year.
Technology in the industry improved and Chem-Dry leads the way with innovations and it's goal of providing "Green Cleaning Solutions" way before it became popular. David purchased the first "CTS" machine in Oregon and soon another in order to give his clients the best in carpet cleaning. Even though costs have increased, Ability Chem-Dry uses the CTS and PowerHead equipment and Natural cleaning solution as standard.
David (Master Technician) still assists in the field occasionally, but relies more on his fully and personally trained technicians. Each are trained in the "Five Star Training" certification as well, and are full time professionals. "I hand pick people who I can trust to be in my own mother's home." David says. He understands the concern people have when inviting strangers into their homes and businesses. All of his technicians have background checks and history profiles examined carefully before they join the team! They focus entirely on the technical aspect of cleaning, giving David time providing customer service and improving the business.
*Based on studies conducted by independent laboratories of Chem-Dry’s HCE (Hot Carbonating Extraction), P.U.R.T. (Pet Urine Removal Treatment), Granite Countertop Renewal, and Tile, Stone & Grout cleaning processes. Allergens tested were dog and cat dander and dust mite allergen. Pet odor results based on testing with the most common odor sources found in dog and cat urine. Pet urine bacteria results based on Chem-Dry’s HCE cleaning process and a sanitizer, combined with P.U.R.T. All bacteria results include use of sanitizer. Figures are an average across multiple tests.
